Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb fresh green beans Haricots verts are preferred, but regular ones work fine.
  • 2 tablespoons butter Unsalted is preferred, but any butter works.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Use 5 cloves if you want to ward off vampires.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Sea salt is recommended.
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper Adds a mild kick.
  • Optional: lemon juice Just a squeeze for brightness.
  • Optional: red pepper flakes Add to your portion for a spicy kick.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Trim the ends of your fresh green beans.
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil.
  3. Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 3-5 minutes until bright green and crisp.
  4. Prepare a bowl of ice water and transfer the blanched green beans to it to stop the cooking process.
Cooking
  1. In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat and add minced garlic.
  2. Once the garlic is fragrant and slightly golden, add the drained green beans.
  3. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and toss the green beans in the garlic butter.
  4. Let them cook for a few more minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Just before serving, add optional lemon juice and red pepper flakes.

Notes
