  • 1 large head cabbage, chopped Green is versatile and cheaper; savoy can be used if preferred.
  • 4 large potatoes, diced Maris Piper is recommended for best texture.
  • 1 medium onion, diced Yellow is sweeter, but red works as well.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Add 5 cloves for extra flavor.
  • 4 tablespoons butter Margarine isn't recommended.
  • to taste salt and pepper Sea salt is a preferred choice.
  • optional red pepper flakes Use according to personal taste.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onions and sauté until they’re translucent.
  3. Toss in the garlic for about a minute, ensuring it doesn't burn.
  4. Add in the potatoes and sauté for another 5 minutes.
  5. Now it’s time to add the cabbage, dome it with salt and pepper.
  6. Cover the pan and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Taste and adjust the seasoning as necessary.
