  • 1 cup orzo pasta Little hugs in pasta form.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets Fresh is best, frozen works in a pinch.
  • 3 cups chicken broth Homemade is divine, store-bought is acceptable.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder For flavor.
  • Salt & black pepper To taste.
  • Red pepper flakes Optional for added heat.
  • Fresh basil For garnish, optional.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced chicken sausage and cook until browned on both sides.
  3. Toss in the orzo and broccoli florets; stir for about a minute to toast the pasta.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth along with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Cover the skillet, and let it simmer for 10-12 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally.
  6. Check for doneness; ensure the orzo is al dente and broccoli is bright green and slightly tender.
  7. If desired, sprinkle in red pepper flakes before serving.
